HEET MAGAZINE NO LONGER EXISTS 1. Tell us what we can expect with your latest project? We are going into the studio this November to record our self-released debut CD "NanyaNa." We are working on that perfect piece of music that will tweak the ears of the major labels, so we can procure that elusive "million dollar deal." It is a compilation of ten of our Jazzy, Funky, Blues, Rock songs. Nanyana's soulful vocals combined with Jason Reichert's Blues Guitar, Todd Damian's Cross-over Eclectic Drums, Jean-Claude's Le Blanc's Heavy Metal Bass favorites influence, all salted with Chris Elvis's cornucopia Keyboards provide a very unique flavor that make up NanyaNa's lyrics and sound. We currently have two top 40 hits on www.soundclick.com in the Rock and the Pop categories (and these are just the "live" recordings). Comparison to No Doubt, Alanis Morissette and Red Hot Chili Peppers is welcome to us, and although they are not direct influences to our sound (we're just not that angry), we have similar vibes. |
Speech of Arrested Development is our very dear
friend and he helped us record "Thousand Miles Away" in his Podium Studio, but we don't have
any pigeon hole influence. Although we don't want to be branded as a copycat by elements we
bring from other genres, our sound is unique enough to provide music for the 2001's as the flavor
called "NanyaNa!" 2. How long have you been performing? About one year, although we have only been playing consistently for the past 6-8 months at major venues in Atlanta. We were semi-final winner in a "battle of the bands" contest, at CJ's Landing and we Main Staged the "Atlanta Unites" Benefit for the victims of the terrible Tuesday terrorist attack on America with Arrested Development, Sister Hazel and Shawn Mullins. 3. What's more important to you money-fame-or just receiving the love from fans? Making music! Creating that special combination of: lyrics, riffs, essence- of a song that totally captures the true soul of an idea, that makes your mind soar and your heart dance! And hopefully the fans will like it as well. If it makes money, all the better! 4. Which do you like more recording in the studio or performing live? (why) Live- will Always be the way to truly perform and enjoy music at its peakpleasing and interacting with the crowd with your body language and "vibe." Pouring out your heart and energy in response to your fans is a satisfaction all it's own! STUDIO = Sterilization, LIVE = Energy+Soul. . . anything else is just half-stepping. [ON THE BEHALF OF THE ENTIRE STAFF AT "HEET MAGAZINE" WE ARE HONORED TO HAVE NANYANA IN OUR October ISSUE OF "HEET-PRIME".] | HEET Lucas Soundtrack, movie roles with Madonna and Mel Gibson and the title song for Matrix 3 are just the small ones! 6. If you could give some advice to an artist who might be reading this and is trying to make it, what would you tell them? "Pray Hard." It really comes down to who you know"It is better to be lucky than good" (at music). The artists that "make it" have marvelous stories to tell, and the ones who don't make it, labor for 15 years and are consumed with "what ifs" and "why nots." You really must love what you are doingthat is your successbecause you have shared your heart with others, and in so doing, improved yourself and them. webmaster@nanyana.com |
